CONCEALED SYSTEMS

Concealed lightning protection is imperative to be installed during the construction process of your home before drywall is installed . Conductor cables, grounds and metal interconnections are perfectly coursed along studding and rafters during framing.

EXPOSED SYSTEMS FOR EXISTING HOMES / BUILDINGS

For existing homes and buildings we take every opportunity we can to keep the conductor cables hidden as much as possible, while still following all UL 96/96A NFPA 780 LPI 175/177 Requirements.

ALUMINUM AND COPPER

Both materials are used for lightning protection systems and sometimes are used together on certain projects , however the two materials should never be used together without bi-metallic connectors. Aluminum parts and cables are heavier and larger to have the same conductivity as copper. We provide expert advice on the most suitable choice for any specific home or building.

A LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEM INSTALLED BY STANDARD LIGHTNING RODS INCLUDES:

• Minimum of two ground rods at least 10 feet deep
• Conductor cable
• Air terminals spaced no more than 20 feet apart along ridges and within two feet of ridge ends and on dormer roofs (if required)
• Air terminals on roof penetrations such as roof pipes metal piped chimneys & soil stacks
• Antenna mast connected to roof conductor
• Connect gutters or other grounded metals as needed
• Surge arrestor installed to protect at electrical service panel
• Transient voltage surge suppressors installed in receptacles to which electronic equipment are connected

COMMERCIAL/INDUSTRIAL PROTECTION SYSTEM INCLUDES:

• Minimum of two ground rods at least 10 feet deep
• Conductor cable
• Air terminals spaced no more than 20 feet apart around the perimeter of the building
• Air handling units bonded to system (may need air terminals)
• Air terminals on masonry chimneys, terminals shall be installed within two feet of outside corners of chimney cap
• Mid-roof conductor and air terminals at maximum 50-foot spacing
• Grounded metal bodies into system
• Surge arrestors installed at main electrical panels
• Transient voltage surge suppressors installed in receptacles to which electronic equipment are connected
